Why do we love this case?

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of France’s superstar regions, the land of puddingstones and bush vines, home of the world’s premier grenache-based wines. From three different producers and vintages, this pack shows off some of the best in the region, that are drinking well and built to last. They’re all unmistakably Châteauneuf, and all unmistakably sensational quality.

Each ease contains TWO of each of the following:

This Southern Rhône bad-boy is complex and intense (just how we like it). Although fresh and elegant at first, the oaky blend then slaps your mouth with a deep, spicy and peppery finish. Full in body and perfectly balanced, this wine is here to stand out. La Bastide Saint Dominique estate’s combination of unique soil and old vines ensures that each wine is produced at a high level of dopeness. Bathed by the bright southern sun, the wines are juicy and big... just like the lamb or pork sausage you should pair it with.

We’re getting into regal territory here with this one. It’s small production CdP made mostly from old-vine grenache with small amounts of mourvedre and syrah thrown in. In most vintages, Patrick destems before ferment, but chose to go with whole clusters for 2018. This results in an immensely complex wine that can cellar for ages. The folks over at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, a crew that scores wines rather tightly, have given this beautiful drop an impressive 97 points. We can’t really add much to that, so we’ll let the wine do the talking from here.

Welcome to the new vintage of Château Sixtine, our most popular Châteauneuf-du-Pape ever! Buyer John Clark describes it as ‘one of the best wines I’ve ever bought’. Nobody’s going home disappointed with this. It’s generous and rich, but amazingly approachable at the same time. You’ll decant it, of course, to get every millimetre of depth and nuance out of it. But you won’t feel like you’re missing out by drinking it now. Have a couple this year, a couple in five, and a couple in ten. Then open your second case for the following decade. Go for a meaty lamb roast with this, and don’t spare the Provençal herbs.
